Babushan probe
Jajpur: Police on Thursday arrested a person from Khariar in Nuapada district for cheating people by impersonating Babushan through a fake Facebook profile. The police arrested him on the basis of a complaint lodged by a woman from Panikoili. According to the complainant, the accused cheated her of Rs 22,000 and 70gms in gold ornaments on the pretext of giving her daughter a chance to debut in films as a child artiste. The accused had created a fake Facebook account in Babushan’s name to commit the crime.
Bridge
Malkangiri: A two-member team will visit Gurupriya Bridge to investigate the reason behind the collapse of the girders in the bridge, situated at Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district. The team will be accompanied by chief engineer of the works department and on the basis of their report further legal steps will be taken. On Monday afternoon, three girders placed above pier Nos. 10 and 11 collapsed.

Malkangiri: Odisha police have tightened security in insurgency-hit areas across Malkangiri district with the Maoists beginning Martyrs’ Week from Friday. Different divisions of the banned CPI (Maoist) have called for observing the Martyrs’ Week from July 28 till August 3.
