Flight problem
Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Biju Patnaik airport on Sunday following cancellation of a Delhi-bound Air India flight because of technical glitch. Sources said the Air India flight AI-076 reportedly developed some “technical glitch” on the runway minutes before its take-off and all the passengers were asked to get off the plane. However, the passengers, who were stranded at the airport, demanded the airline to make alternative arrangement.
Shah visit
Bhubaneswar: BJP president Amit Shah will arrive in the city on Monday night to attend party programmes. His itinerary includes a visit to Jajpur and Khurda districts. Shah would meet the state executive members, district presidents and other senior party leader on July 6 before leaving for New Delhi.
Five held
Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday arrested five persons in connection with a murder in Berhampur. They have also seized four bombs and swords from the accused. The police said the accuse had hurled bombs at two persons — Sushant Patra and Upendra Behera — after attacking them with swords at Fast Gate in Bada Bazar police limits on Saturday night. Behera later succumbed to injuries at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Deficit rainfall
Bhubaneswar: Odisha has witnessed 4 per cent deficit rainfall with 207.9mm in June as compared to the long-term average or normal rainfall of 216.5mm, said the special relief commissioner office on Sunday. Eight districts - Jajpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Jagatsinghpur - recorded deficit in rainfall between 19 and 39 per cent during June.
