Bhubaneswar, Nov. 21: The state government is planning to introduce simplified notes for Plus Two students of science stream for easier understanding of the subjects.
These short and snappy notes will be available at the department of higher education and can be downloaded from the website www.dheorissa.in.
Notes on various subjects in arts and commerce will be uploaded subsequently.
“This is going to the first of its kind venture in the country by a government department. Notes for subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology for Plus Two will be uploaded in the first phase, following which notes for Plus Three science will be uploaded,” said S.N. Mohanty, principal of BJB Junior College who has been assigned the responsibility by the higher education department.
“As of now, the proposal has been discussed and the blueprint is in the making. A team of subject teachers will also be identified for preparation of the notes so that it is of the best quality and standard. It’s a time consuming procedure and it depends on how early we can complete the work,” said Mohanty.
Notes on physics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology of Plus Two first year will be available by January 2012. “We will also try to upload notes on career oriented courses and those on national level competitive exams,” he said.
Students are equally excited about the new initiative. “It’s a great news. One of the major reasons why students are forced to take up private tuitions is because of “notes”. The voluminous books are so scary. It’s so difficult to go complete all the pages. The notes will definitely come in handy,” said Shweatlina Mohanty, a student.
Educationists however believe that there should be some restriction to the download process.
“There should be some restriction for the downloading so that it is not misused by coaching centres. We are contemplating on introducing a login ID for each student,” said Mohanty.
