Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today said the state's export policy was under revision to boost exports.
The chief minister has also congratulated the exporters from Odisha for achieving 114 per cent growth in 2016-17 over the previous year. 'Soon, a new export policy will be unveiled. Besides, we are in the process of organising all export related organisations under one roof,' said Naveen while addressing a workshop called Export Strategy of Odisha.
Stating that Odisha had registered a significant growth in the field of export since 2001-02 because of efforts of the state government, Naveen said the export turnover, which was merely Rs 563 crore in 2001-02, had increased 34 times to Rs 19,082 crore in 2015-16. 'Because of collective efforts of our exporters, the value of exports between 2015-16 and 2016-17 has registered a phenomenal growth of 114 per cent from Rs 19,875 crore to Rs 40,872 crore,' he said.
Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) minister Prafulla Samal called upon the state's exporters to be involved more in overseas trade and tap the maximum export potential.
Additional chief secretary, MSME, L.N. Gupta laid stress on development of export infrastructure of the state to bridge the gap in logistic support that the state requires.
Naveen also awarded silver trophies to 19 exporters of the state. The National Aluminium Company was presented the Best Exporter's Award for having exported products of highest turnover.
