Bhubaneswar, May 14: Admission process for Plus Two classes for the current academic session, which was to start tomorrow, has been postponed to May 27 because of delay in announcement of the CBSE results.
“This has been done following an application by the CBSE to shift the dates because of delay in their result publication,” said higher education minister Rabi Narayan Nanda.
Apart from the CBSE, the ICSE results also are yet to be announced. The ICSE results will be out on May 17, while the CBSE results will be announced during the last week of May.
For Plus Two admissions, as announced earlier, there will be both online and offline application forms this year.
Plus Two admission dates were advanced by the department because of early announcement of the state board results this year. While the results are generally announced at the end of June every year, this year, it was declared a month ahead.
An official of the department of higher education said the online common application forms (CAF) would be available on the higher education department website, www.dheorissa.in, from May 27 instead of May 15.
Similarly, students can collect the offline CAF from the nearest SAMS resource centre.
The last date for applying online has been changed from May 30 to June 12. The first selection list will be available on the website on June 20 instead of June 8 and admission of the applicants will be done between June 26 and June 30.
“There is no reason for students to get confused and panic as the dates will be updated on the department’s website,” said Mihir Das, nodal officer for the Plus Two admissions.
This year, there has been reintroduction of the second selection considering the large number of seats that remained unoccupied last year after the first selection admission. Also with better scores in matriculation this year, the cut off marks in premier colleges of the state is expected to jump.
In 2009, e-admission was introduced in the state for 60 junior colleges. It has been extended to all 1,352 junior and 657 degree colleges this year.
