Bhubaneswar, July 29: Information about capital city will now be a click away with the government set to launch its first project under the Smart City Mission - the BhubaneswarOne app.

The mobile application is modelled on OneMap, which is popular in Singapore.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will launch the app tomorrow. The app will provide information about the city's hotels, hospitals, government offices, tourist places, markets, hangout zones and a host of other information.

Initially, the app, a joint venture of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BMC) and the National Informatics Centre, will only be available for android users.

"The application has been developed for Rs 2.5 crore and will have all kinds of information about the city," said a BDA official.

"The app has taken various inputs from the OneMap, but this application will be more modern with improvised features," said the official.#The app will be enabled with a map of the city and a search box. People can search for a particular place and get instant information about nearby markets, malls, parks, hospital and places of interest.

For instance, if someone searches for Kharavela Nagar, the application will provide information about Ekamra Haat, Big Bazaar and Exhibition Ground.

"This is an extremely good move by the government. Karnataka government already has a similar app, but it provides information only about government services," said Udaynath Sahoo, who is a corporate employee based in Bangalore.

The application will also provide information regarding buses, trains and flights.
