Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday asked officials to expedite execution of ongoing projects in Bijepur.
The BJD had snatched the Bijepur Assembly seat from the Congress in a bypoll held in February.
While campaigning for the party's nominee Rita Sahu, the chief minister had assured voters of all-round development within a year.
In Monday's review meet, Naveen laid stress on transforming Bijepur into an ideal Assembly constituency.
The review revealed that developmental activities were going on in full swing in the three blocks - Gaisilet, Bijepur and Barpali.
Work on the railway overbridge at Barpali, construction of a canal service road and a road to connect Barpali to Bijepur were being executed for Rs 9.38 crore.
The government has also completed 29 road projects out of the total target of 34.
While 36 unplanned buildings have been completed, step has been taken to set up a model school in Bijepur for Rs 2 crore. A bridge on the Ong river will be built for Rs 12.86 crore. Out of 264 villages, rural electrification under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana has been completed in 182 villages, while the work is under progress in 82 villages.
Naveen also reviewed the status of 20 lift irrigation projects undertaken between December and May.
These projects worth Rs 2.2 crore will irrigate 440 hectares.
After the meeting, Bijepur MLA Rita Sahu said: "Projects related to roads, drinking water, irrigation projects were reviewed. The chief minister has asked for completion of incomplete projects."
