Addressing an impressive gathering in the city, Naveen asserted that only except the international boundary, Odisha fulfilled most of the criterion to get the special category state status.
The Centre was getting huge revenue from the mining and railway sector from Odisha, but it had failed to provide adequate financial support for the development of Odisha.
Naveen said: “There are many leaders who continue to value the party’s interest is more important than that of the state. People have already known them. We are demanding that the historical injustice meted out to Odisha be undone.”
Echoing similar statements, finance minister Prasanna Acharya and vice-president and health minister Damodar Rout were critical of the Opposition parties.
Party’s another vice-president, A.U. Singh Deo, said: “The Congress is hatching a conspiracy to delay the arrival of the trains to Delhi so that people fail to attend the meeting at Ramlila Maidan.”
Information and public relations minister and party’s general secretary Arun Sahoo said: “Seven trains will leave for Delhi tomorrow carrying 15,000 people from Odisha. The trains will leave from Koraput, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Berhampur, Puri, Cuttack and Jajpur.”
