Angul, Oct. 16: Authorities of National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) here today initiated the repair works on the leaked pipeline that carries ash water from its captive power plant to the nearby ash pond.
“We began the restoration works this afternoon and it will be over soon,” said a senior official of the company.
On Saturday, one of the pipelines burst near Balramprasad village causing some leakage of slurry water into the village areas. The Nalco officials, however, checked it after sometime. But, this had triggered resentment among the villagers, who demanded compensation from the company.
In another development, district collector Sibprasad Mishra today visited the spot, along with executive director of Nalco P.R. Chaudhury.
