Bhubaneswar, Feb. 6: The annual literary and cultural festival, Nitrutsav, organised by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, has concluded with much fanfare.

This year, the festival hosted 22 events in various categories such as literature and art. The art competitions had sections such as poster-making, collage-making, painting and face-painting. There were also workshops on creative writing, sand art, painting and pattachitra, photography and choreography. Besides, there were art and sculpture workshops by Chintamani Biswal and Manoranjan Moharana, apart from audio-production workshop. Literary events also took place such as Lit A Lympics, Rescripted, and NU Journalist.

One of the highlights of the fest was a musical performance by Agnee Band, one of the oldest in the country. Koco and Mohan, the lead artistes of the band, ensured that the crowd got a taste of some of their famous music renditions such as Sadho Re and Manmani - the Roadies theme song among others.

"The atmosphere was electrifying. We were left craving for more," said Abhay Parida, a student who attended the fest.

Fashionista, the fashion show, was also held.

NIFT Bhubaneswar was adjudged the winner of the fashion parade, whereas Pankhuri Gidwani exhibited attires based on the theme of monuments. A number of flagship events were also lined up such as Urban Crusade, a virtual reality-based treasure-hunt event, United Youth Conference, an event organised by Toastmasters International, and Nukkad Natak, a street play competition.

Yesterday, there were some exciting events lined up for the last day of the fest such as NITR Roadies, Footloose and Splitsvilla. In the evening, the crowd assembled in large numbers to enjoy the EDM night by DJ Aceaxe, who made the crowd dance to the beats of some great music.

Students from technology colleges from across the country took part in the fest, which concluded yesterday with a musical night Maktub, where the crowd came in large numbers dressed in traditional attire to enjoy soulful renditions of A.R. Rahman and other romantic songs presented by Heartbeats club of the institute. The show continued till midnight. "This year's fest was a great success in terms of all our events, turnout and sponsorships. This was possible because of a very dedicated team of students. I hope that the grandeur of our fest increases every year," said the Literary and Cultural Society's student convenor Nishant Kumar Singh, who was in the organising team.
