Cuttack, June 24: Celebrating the 30th World Music Day on June 21, the West Bengal State Akademi of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts of Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta, in association with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), organised a musical evening at the ancestral house of Rabindranath Tagore in Jorasanko.
In the programme titled “Nana Bhasay Rabindranath”(Tagore in different languages), lyricist Mohit Chakraborty and singer Trupti Panda performed Tagore’s songs in Oriya.
On the day before the programme, two songs of the poet, Ketechhe Ekela Biroher Bela and Dariye Achho Tumi translated into Oriya by Mohit Chakraborty as Bitichhi Ekaki Birahara Bela and Tume Je Achha Saathi Mora respectively, were recorded in the voice of Trupti Panda for an exclusive audio CD to be released on the occasion of the 71st death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore on August 7. The other languages in which Tagore’s songs have been recorded for the audio CD are Hindi, Sanskrit, Assamese, Manipuri, Tripuri, Santhali and other languages of the North-East.
