Baripada, Sept. 19: A 50-year-old man was murdered in the Baripada-Bangriposhi Superfast Express last night.

Police said the murder took place between Thakurtota and Jugapura around 9.30pm. The police said the victim, Rajendra Behera, from Anlangunja village in Bagiriposhi, apparently died after his throat was slit with a sharp weapon. His son identified the body today.

According to the police, some passengers said they had heard somebody arguing at the place where the victim and a few others were seated. After some time, when they went there, they found Behera lying motionless with his throat slit. Someone pulled the chain immediately and two persons were seen getting off the train.

“A team along with sniffer dogs have visited the crime scene. GRP is investigating,” said sub-divisional police officer, Betnoti, Dhiren Chandra Nanda.
