Bhubaneswar, April 8: Dhenkanal police today arrested two employees of the Mangilall Rungta Company on charges of killing the factory's additional vice-president Siba Narayan Mishra outside his office at Meramundali yesterday.
The police had earlier detained the two accused, identified as Sujit Sahu and Tikaya Pradhan.
Dhenkanal superintendent of police Nikhil Kanodia said the victim had named the two accused in his dying declaration following which they were arrested.
Kanodia said: "The two accused persons had been working with the company for quite a long time. They were demanding salary revision and regularisation of their jobs. As their demands were not met, the employees were angry."
The plant had not been fully operational since the past four years. It was closed down after it had turned sick. Only a few skeletal staff members were engaged to manage the work.
"The situation on the plant premises is normal," said the police superintendent.
Yesterday, a group of people had stopped Mishra's car nearly 500 metres from the factory. He was dragged out of the car and taken to a nearby field. Later, Mishra was beaten up with iron rods and shovels. His driver, who had managed to escape from the spot, alerted other employees about the attack.
However, before the victim's colleagues could come to his rescue, the criminals had fled. The other employees of the company rescued the victim and rushed him to hospital.
Though the accused were arrested and produced before court today, Mishra's family members demanded a high-level probe into the incident.
"As far as I know, my brother had no enmity with anybody. There might be some other people involved in the crime. A high-level probe will reveal the truth," said Mishra's brother Sudhanshu Narayan Mishra.
