Bhubaneswar, Aug. 12: Chief of Jindal Steel and Power Limited Naveen Jindal today met chief secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra and briefed him about developments at his Angul project.
Jindal said the report for its coal-to-liquid project had already been completed. “We expect an MoU with the state government shortly. We will invest nearly Rs 60,000 crore to Rs 70,000 crore for the proposed project,” he said.
The company’s subsidiary, Jindal Synfuels, will develop the project in Angul. Under the project, the coal will be used to produce diesel and petrol.
In another development, for technological support, Jindal has signed an MoU with German-based company Lurgi, an engineering firm with hi-tech expertise in the entire process chain of coal-to-liquid project.
Project head of Jindal Steel and Power in the state and managing director of Jindal Synfuels Limited Subrat Rath said: “We have been receiving excellent support from the people of the state.”
