Bhubaneswar, March 1: Aspiring techies have a reason to rejoice. Two state-run technical institutes will have more seats from the next academic session.
Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology at Burla will now have 780 seats, up from 460, while Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) at Sarang will have 300 seats for its programmes, an increase of 120 seats.
At the Burla institute, undergraduate seats have been doubled from 60 to 120 each in civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic and telecommunications, and information technology (IT).
A new branch in metal and metallurgical engineering has been introduced with 60 seats. Two new postgraduation programmes in IT and integrated MSc in basic science have been launched with 18 seats each.
