Baripada, Dec. 16: A girl student has complained that a functionary at a residential nursing training school had subjected her to indecent behaviour on two occasions on the school premises.

While the victim lodged a complaint with the Town police on December 4, she met the deputy inspector-general of police, eastern range, Aseet Panigrahi, yesterday and sought his intervention alleging police inaction.

Panigrahi has directed the Mayurbhanj police chief to expedite action against the culprit, Bikash Sethi, who has been the advisor of Biju Patnaik Nursing Training School, while his wife is the director of the institute.

Inspector in-charge of Baripada town police station Ratikanta Giri said: “A case under Section 354 of IPC has been registered against Sethi. He is absconding and efforts are on to nab him.”

Panigrahi said: “We are taking all steps to provide justice to the victim.”

“Although my daughter had lodged a police complaint on December 4, no action was taken by the local police officials. Yesterday, we met the DIG and today the Mayurbhanj police chief,” the victim’s father today told The Telegraph.

“I want justice for my daughter and appropriate action against the culprit,” he said.

The victim, a first-year student of the school located at Takatpur, alleged that on November 17, during filling up an examination form, he called her to the office when he was alone and subjected her to indecent behaviour.

While she protested, he had threatened to make her fail in the forthcoming examinations scheduled to be held from December 19. He repeated the same thing on November 25,” said the victim’s father.

“We hear such allegations against Sethi every year,” said a resident.
