Bhubaneswar, May 31: Police today arrested an Odia film financier for allegedly molesting a 38-year-old woman.
Himadri Sekhar Mohapatra, 40, an Old Town resident and a financier of couple of Odia movies was arrested after the victim filed a complaint in a local court. The victim, a labour contractor by profession, was allegedly molested by Mohapatra on March 30 evening when she was waiting for a town bus in Nayapalli. Mohapatra gave her a lift in his car and molested her on the back seat of the vehicle.
The accused dropped her near Acharya Vihar Square and threatened her with dire consequences if she complained against him.
“We registered a case on the court’s direction and subsequently arrested the accused,” said police commissioner R.P. Sharma.
The police said the victim had initially given a written complaint without her contact number. So they did not register it following which she went to the court.
Sex racket busted
Police today busted a sex racket being run in a beauty parlour at Budheswari Colony on Cuttack road. The cops arrested a youth Babuli Sahu, 27, a Gobindpur resident, and rescued three girls.
This is the second incident in a week of police unearthing a sex racket being run in the beauty parlours on Cuttack road.
On Thursday, the police arrested four persons and rescued 11 women from three beauty parlours in the same area. A police officer said the parlour, which was raided today, was running in a rented house.
