Bhubaneswar, July 12: The headmaster of an upper primary school at Paanchgaon village on the city outskirts was arrested today for allegedly trying to molest a Class VII girl of the school.

The girl’s family members alleged the accused, Sisirkant Moharana, had called her to his office around 10.30am and asked her to sweep the room.

Then taking advantage of the near-empty place, Moharana allegedly molested the girl.

However, the 12-year-old girl somehow managed to free herself from the clutches of Moharana and ran home. Later, she narrated the incident to her parents.

The girl’s father alleged that the headmaster had attempted to rape her several times in the past, but the girl could not muster courage to speak up against him.

Airfield police detained the headmaster and handed him over to Mahila police.

The police sent the girl and Moharana for medical examination before forwarding the accused to court.
