Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday traced the girl who allegedly gave spiked chocolate to a 17-year-old student of a government-run college here on Monday.
However, the police said that she denied any such incident on campus on that day. The police said they did not find any student by the name that the victim had given in the register. Later, the victim's father mentioned another name. "She appeared before the police and said that she never offered anything to the victim on that day. She told us that she attended her practical examination, but did not offer anything to the victim. We are verifying her statement," said a police officer.
The victim's father had alleged that the girl had introduced a youth to his daughter and the youth took nude photographs of her.
"The girl also denied knowing any such youth and introducing the victim to him," said the police officer.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
On Tuesday, the victim's father lodged a complaint with Kharavela Nagar police on the basis of which the cops registered a case under sections 34 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code. The man also accused a few male students of the institute of intoxicating students to record nude videos of them.
On Wednesday, the police detained a youth who was found accompanying the victim to her house.
"The youth told us that she was fine when he dropper her at home on his motorcycle. He also said that the victim did not mention anything about being drugged while they were on the way to her house," the police said.
The cops had identified the youth while scanning the institute's CCTV footage. Deputy commissioner of police, Bhubaneswar, Satyabrata Bhoi said further investigation in the case was ongoing. "We are verifying everyone's statements. We are waiting for the victim to be stable after which she will be confronted with the girl," said Bhoi.
