Bhubaneswar, July 16: This is in reference to the report SC lash for Mesco Mess published in The Telegraph on July 13.

The report erroneously mentioned that the Odisha government granted a loan to Mesco and the company defaulted, leading to a case in the Supreme Court. The company has clarified that it has cleared all its debts to all its creditors, including the state government for establishing 1.2 million tonnes per annum.

Infact, the case which came up for hearing in the Supreme Court on July 12 related to the mining lease granted to Mesco steel. As the Odisha Government had reduced the mine leased out to the company, the Mesco had filed a case in the Orissa High Court and had got a favourable order. The State Government had gone for an appeal in the Supreme Court. The first hearing of the case was scheduled on July 12.

The inadvertent error is regretted.
