Meet in Italy to woo investors

The state government is making all-out efforts to woo investors across the globe ahead of its Make In Odisha conclave scheduled in November.

Bhubaneswar: The state government is making all-out efforts to woo investors across the globe ahead of its Make In Odisha conclave scheduled in November.

While the state's industries minister Ananta Das on Monday met the top industrialists of Italy in Milan, a delegation from China is coming to the state in August to explore business opportunities.

Das led the delegation on the invitation of Damiano Francovigh, Italian consul general for eastern India.

The delegation includes industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra and chairman of the Odisha Industrial Development Corporation Sanjay Singh.

Das also held several high-level meetings and panel discussions with industrial experts to promote industrial development in the state. A discussion on the subject of Odisha, Industrial hub for Italian Companies Bilateral Meetings was chaired by Alberto Cavicchiolo, president of Indo-Italian Metal Hub.

The meeting is expected to mark a new chapter of co-operation between Italy and Odisha.

The meeting is also likely to throw light in the field of metals and materials engineering. Several companies such as Nalco, Hindalco, JS Group, Renovation, Daniel and C. Tenova, Vedanta, Foundry Ecocer and Sideridraulic have been invited to be a part of the ongoing discussions.

On the other hand, a Chinese delegation from Fujan will visit Odisha next month with a view to advancing exchanges and co-operation between India and Fujan in areas such as education, talents, economy and trade.

"It will also play a role in enhancing friendly relations between Odisha and Fujan. They will also be taken to the proposed industrial park for Chinese investors," said an official.

The team members of the Chinese delegation include Hu Changsheng, member of the standing committee and head of the organisation department of the CPC Fujan Provincial Committee, Lin Heping, director-general of the Fujan provincial department of education, Shao Yulong, chairman of the state-owned assets supervision and administration commission of the Fujan Provincial People's Government, Lioa Shizhu, chairman and general manager of the Chian Strait Talent Market, Huang Shaorong, director of international exchanges division of the foreign affairs officer of the Fujan Provincial People's government and Zhou Shengyi, principal staff member of the organisation department of the CPC Fujan Provincial Committee.
