Cuttack/Bhubaneswar, June 26: The results of the annual high school certificate examinations would be declared on June 28, said officials of the board of secondary education (BSE), Odisha.
The results will be available 9am onwards on the following websites — www.bseorissa.in, www.orissaresults.- nic.in, www.indiaresults.com, www.exametc.com, www.bhar- atstudent.com and www.scho- ols9.com.
Students can also get their results on their mobile phones by sending an SMS. Just type “OHSB” followed by a space, roll number and send it to 57333. You can also type “OR10” followed by a space, roll number and send it to any of the four numbers – 5676999, 58888, 5676750 and 56300.
Unlike in the past, the board will not publish the result booklets, as this might further delay the announcement of results by four to five days. Last year, the booklets were provided at 33 centres across the state.
“The delay would have created problems for the Odia medium school students for pursuing higher education, since the results of CBSE and ICSE Class X results were declared almost a month ago,” said a BSE official, adding that the board usually publishes over 4,000 booklets every year which are supplied to all districts around the same time the matriculation results are declared on the websites and provided via SMS.
This decision of not publishing the booklets has been opposed by the All India Democratic Students Organisation (Aidso) activists, who staged a protest outside the BSE office in Cuttack today. They said students in the rural and remote parts of the state would be deprived of checking their results.
“In a state where the answer sheets of students are being evaluated under candlelight because of power crisis, how can the state government decide to publish the results online? There is hardly any Internet connectivity in rural areas,” said Aidso secretary Bhagyarabi Das.
He said students would be burdened financially as they would have to shell out around Rs 20 to 30 to check their results at cyber cafes. “We demand that the board authorities publish the result booklets and make them available by June 30,” said Das.
This year, over five lakh students appeared for the matriculation exams, which were marred by theft of question papers of at least seven subjects from a high school in Puri after the test for first paper, Odia, got over on March 19. A few officials of the school were suspended for dereliction of duty and the state government ordered a probe.
The remaining exams for the 4.56 lakh regular candidates were rescheduled and held between April 17 and April 26.
