Sambalpur, Aug. 3: A 35-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before committing suicide by hanging himself at Gandhipara in Burla yesterday.

The man Sushil Meher, 35, of Bausuni in Sonepur district, allegedly killed his wife Saloni Behera with a sharp weapon. Saloni was earlier married in Khujenpali of Balangir district and she had three children. However, she left her family to live with Sushil. They had been staying in a rented house at Gandhipara in Burla. Some children of Gandhipara area, who plays in front of Sushil’s house, saw the two bodies.

Inspector in-charge of Burla police station, Tofan Bag said: “Sushil was unemployed since the last two months and it could be the reason behind the incident.”
