Sambalpur, June 15: Gobinda Chhatria, a 33-year-old man, surrendered before Burla police after murdering a 25-year-old youth for having an affair with his wife Anusuya.

Burla police station inspector in-charge Tophan Bag said: "The accused confessed that he had killed Balram Sahu, the deceased. He has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and forwarded to the court today."

The incident took place at Baudiapara around 22km from here, yesterday.

The accused, a mason by profession, murdered the youth of the same village with an axe. "Gobinda said his wife had a relationship with Balram and that is why he killed him," said a police officer.

The accused had married 12 years ago and has two children. Balram was unmarried and ran an eatery in the village.The accused said that he came to know about the relationship from Anusuya's phone call details.
