Baripada: Police arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife, 45, from Bangiriposhi in Mayurbhanj district on Friday.

The cops arrested Rajkishor Dehuri of Sorisapal village in Rangamatia gram panchayat in the district after exhuming his wife's body.

Although the alleged murder took place on Wednesday evening, the incident came to light after neighbours informed the police of foul smell emanating from the backyard of Dehuri's home.

Baripada sub-divisional police officer Abhimanyu Nayak said the accused killed his wife over domestic dispute. "The accused confessed to the crime and the weapon of offence has been seized," he said.

The police said Dehuri and wife got involved in an over a domestic issue and the accused clubbed Sabita to death with a spade.
