Cuttack, Feb. 14: Radio presenters of Ravenshaw University played Cupid on Valentine’s Day. For their youth discussion programme, “Love is in the Air” was the chosen theme today on Ravenshaw radio that helped many express their love.
The newly re-launched Ravenshaw radio provided a platform to the students to speak their heart and confess their feelings through the live phone-in programme to commemorate the day.
“We received nearly 250 calls during the live phone-in programme,” Viraj Shukla, co-ordinator, Ravenshaw radio. Shukla said nearly 20 students had prepared the concept and content for the show. “Many people have different views on love, and Valentine’s Day proved the right day to ensure that everybody expresses their feelings for their loved ones in the right way,” said Soumyakanti Mohanty, a student. The programme focused on resolving the disputes between couples through shayaris and messages, said Mohanty.
On the other hand, the day was celebrated with much fanfare with couples taking part in rallies that were organised by Bajrang Dal activists across the city here today.
Moreover, drawing lessons from past experiences, police had made elaborate plans to ensure that the day passed off peacefully.
Ravenshaw clash
Tension still persists at Ravenshaw University even though two student groups formally sought an unconditional apology from the authorities for yesterday’s violence on the campus.
Though both the student groups had lodged police complaints, those might be withdrawn following a discussion held between the authorities and student groups today.
“Both the groups have submitted a memorandum seeking an apology for the violence on the campus and necessary action will be taken in this regard,” said acting vice-chancellor Pradipta Mohapatra.
