Bhubaneswar, July 14: Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) authorities will soon put in place a web-based grievance-address system through which students can file their complaints online.
The facility will be made available on the official website of the university. In the new system, students can create their online user address and password and log in to file their grievance. Authorities promise a solution within 14 days and that the status of the grievance would be notified on the website.
“We welcome the decision and hope that the facility will begin functioning soon,” said president of BPUT Students’ Protection Council Biplab Prakash Mohanty.
An online database will be created by the National Informatics Centre, which will be linked with the BPUT website by the end of this month, said an official. The technical education department has also directed the BPUT to publish results of various semesters, which are pending, by the end of July.
Earlier, registering grievances was a tough task. “The main office of BPUT is in Rourkela and it was difficult for us to travel all the way to register our grievances. The camp office at Gandamunda in Bhubaneswar has been of little help as officials keep postponing the cases,” said Samapta, a student.
Last Tuesday, chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the administrative building of the university.
Besides unveiling the plaque, the chief minister also inaugurated the Biju Patnaik archive at the varsity that contains a collection of pictures depicting the contributions of the leader in industrial development.
