Paradip, Aug. 16: Australian kayaker Sandy Robson, 47, an adventurer on a global expedition, has landed herself in trouble by entering the prohibited sea waters of Paradip port.

Robson, who reached Paradip coast yesterday from Gopalpur in her five-metre long red kayak, made her way to the restricted zones of the major port, raising legal wrangles over the act of infiltration by the foreign national.

“As the adventurer’s kayak entered the port’s restricted area, an alarm was raised. She was subjected to questioning by immigration, customs and central industrial security officials. Later, she was let off as she did so inadvertently,” said sources.

Port facility and security officer G.K. Biswal said: “Adventurer Robson had made her way into the prohibited port area. The security personnel promptly intervened and drove her kayak away from the restricted zone. As she was not aware of the restricted zone, a lenient view was taken even though she had committed an offence. The adventurer from Australia had also been accorded permission from the Union external ministry for kayaking in country’s sea water.”

The Paradip coast guard, which is co-ordinating her movement in Paradip coast, was informed of Robson’s entry into the port area. Biswal said a coast guard vessel had later towed her kayak to an unrestricted area.
