Bhubaneswar, July 24: The spiritual mood among Jagannath devotees is at its peak and everyone wants to have a darshan of the Trinity in their finest jewellery.
Jewellery designers have also come up with new collections dedicated to Lord Jagannath on the occasion of Nabakalebar and rath yatra. Many devotees are collecting gold items from these collections.
A city-based jewellery house has introduced a collection - aptly named Vaikuntha Collection - that offers 21 different pendants with Lord Jagannath or rath yatra elements and symbols in 916 purity 22 carat gold embellished with select CZ stones and fine enamel work made by master craftsmen.
"Each of the pendants is BIS hallmarked and comes packed in a special box created especially for this pious occasion, making it a perfect memoir of the holy Nabakalebar and rath yatra," said director of the Odia jewellery brand Mitesh Khimji.
"We had been planning such a collection for quite some time and it could not have been better timed than launching it during this spiritual festival," he said.
A Calcutta-based jewellery store that has outlets in Bhubaneswar has also come up with a fascinating collection of pendants, bracelets and bangles that depict the image of Lord Jagannath or elements like the kalpataru tree inside the temple, the owl spotted on the holy daru or other symbols and motifs associated with the Jagannath culture.
Special offers on these gold jewellery items were announced for the rath yatra festival though the items of the collection will be available even after the event. There is considerable interest among buyers for these jewellery designs.
"We can wear these ourselves and keep the Lord's image close to our hearts or gift these to the important people in our lives," said Smarajit Behera, a devotee of Lord Jagannath.
The price range of these items starts from Rs 5,000 and climbs to Rs 1,00,000 and more for special orders.
