Bhubaneswar, July 11: The state government has decided to set up five more nodal centres in the state for smooth conduct of the e-counselling process under the Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE)-2011. This decision was taken yesterday to help those students facing problems with the online registration process.
The five new centres are JEE Cell at Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar, Khalikote (Autonomous) College in Berhampur, Fakir Mohan University in Balasore, Government ITI in Rourkela and Vikram Deb College in Jeypore. These are in addition to the existing 18 nodal centres at 11 places across the state. The OJEE authorities had been receiving complaints from students regarding non-receipt of rank cards and securing the password during e-registration.
“Those who are facing any trouble with online registration can visit the nearest nodal centre or call our helpline number for assistance,” vice-chairman of OJEE committee, Sitaram Mohapatra said. The helpline number is 0674-2352456
To help candidates, who have not received their rank cards so far, the OJEE authorities are sending the requisite 16-digit bar code number through SMS alerts.
“Candidates are required to follow the prescribed procedure while registering their names and filling up the required fields.
“If one does not follow the instructions, the system does not accept the password given by them,” said Mohapatra, adding only 100-odd candidates have faced this problem while nearly 20,000 students have successfully registered themselves.
Meanwhile, the centralised manual counselling at its only venue at the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Bhubaneswar, began on Sunday. Students applying for PGDM, PGCM and PGDM (executive) courses under OJEE-2011 turned up at this institute to fill in choices of colleges and furnish documents for verification.
This system of counselling would be held for MBA, medical courses and lateral entry into pharmacy and architecture. While the MBA counselling would be conducted on July 12, the date for medical stream (both MBBS and BDS) is July 14 and 15 and for the lateral entry courses, it is July 16 and 17.
For all these courses, either the number of sanctioned seats is less or the number of applicants is fewer. OJEE authorities said the e-counselling system usually takes around 10 to 12 days but with centralised manual counselling, the process would be completed within two days.
Under the medical stream, nearly 2,200 candidates qualified for admission against 500-odd seats for MBBS and 117 for BDS. In lateral entry for pharmacy and architecture, the number of seats is 86 and 60, respectively.
