Jaundice scare
Berhampur: Hyderabad-based Manna Trust providing midday meal to 44,000 kids studying at 394 schools in Ganjam district is under the scanner. of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation to prevent jaundice. Civic body commissioner Anjana Panda, who had paid a surprise visit to the centralised kitchen last month, asked the authority to initiate every precautionary step to prevent jaundice.
Lakhs looted
Paradip: Unidentified criminals looted Rs 81 lakh from a sarpanch in a marketplace near Balikuda police station in Jagatsinghpur district after breaking open the motorbike dickey containing the cash. Sarpanch of Arilo gram panchayat Prasant Barik had drawn the cash from a nationalised bank and was making a purchase from the nearby market when the loot was perpetrated.

Berhampur: Around 18 girl students staying at Gazalbadi Kanyashram in Ganjam district, suffered from diarrhoea after eating canteen food on Saturday night.
Bear bite
Balasore: A 30-year-old man is undergoing treatment at headquarters hospital after suffering injuries due to bear bite. The victim, Mihiri Panigrahi, of Jadiba village, had encountered a wild bear while he was going to Manipur village.
Murderer arrested
Bhubaneswar: Police on Tuesday arrested the prime accused in the alleged rape and murder of a Class VIII student on February 27 at Rengali. The accused has been identified as Bhisma Ranbida, 22, of Bhursipali.
It was alleged that the girl, who had gone to work in a brick kiln at a nearby village along with a 22-year-old woman, had waylaid the duo when they were returning. The accused had attacked the woman first, who managed to escape from the scene. Later, Ranbida overpowered the minor and raped her before killing her.
OJEE date
Bhubaneswar: The date of application for the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination scheduled on May 10 has been extended to March 20. The decision was taken in view of the annual Plus Two examinations under way in the state. The last date of application for lateral entry has been extended from March 5 to March 20.
Gherao
Jajpur: More than 200 women of Karjanga village on Tuesday gheraoed Kuakhia police station in the district, demanding immediate arrest of the accused in the murder of an eight-year-old child of their village. The kid’s body was recovered from a pond on Saturday last.
