Bhubaneswar: The proposed judicial court complex project on the civil court premises is inching closer to reality with the central eviction monitoring committee of the state government beginning to clear the hurdles coming in the way of executing the project here.
The enforcement committee on Friday carried out a major eviction drive on the civil court premises to remove squatters.
Requisition for the eviction drive was made by the zonal deputy commissioner of the civic body following which the officials went ahead and carried out the drive.
In order to avoid any problems, the enforcement squad took police help. During the drive, the squad removed 22 polythene sheds, 13 temporary cabins, 20 temporary tea kiosks and betel shops and 30 bamboo-and-polythene sheds. "We went there at 6am and carried out the drive. We have succeeded in demolishing the unauthorised shops," said the development authority's liaison officer S.S. Mohanty.
