Balangir, Aug. 8: The family members of Kailash Agrawal, who was killed on April 2, have demanded a crime branch inquiry into the case after failing to get justice from Balangir police even four months after the murder at Luhasingha village.
Kailash’s brother Laxmi Narayan Agrawal blamed the Balangir police for failing to arrest the culprits. On April 2, unidentified assailants had killed Kailash and his servant Gobardhan Pandey at Luhasingha in the Patnagarh police station limits, about 60km from here. Villagers found their bodies wrapped in tarpaulins a little off the village.
Kailash was dealing with forest produces, especially mohua flower and char seed. He was popular in the Patnagarh area. He had a godown at the village to keep the mohua flowers and char seed and employed a watchman to look after it. Both the bodies had bore multiple injuries. After killing, the assailants took away at least 100 quintals of char seed from the godown.
“The police are not taking any steps to arrest the accused. We had approached Patnagarh police, who called some people to the police station for interrogation. After that, the police are not doing anything,” Agrawal said.
