Youth Changemaker Day
The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) observed Odisha's first-ever Youth Changemaker Day in association with Ashoka Innovators for the Public, Bangalore. Youth Changemaker Day aims to trigger ideas in young people that can lead to social enterprises and inspire passionate students and young people by providing a learning platform through specific intervention programmes. It also invited social entrepreneurs to share their real-life experiences in social enterprises. The larger objective is to set up a Centre of Excellence in Social Entrepreneurship at KISS for students and youths of Odisha. It is an open forum for sharing ideas and experiences in the development sector and also help youths to learn and execute their ideas to change the world. Inaugurating the event, founder of KISS and KIIT Achyuta Samanta said: "It is a nice initiative to introduce the concept of changemaking and social innovation amongst the youth, drive home social innovation and entrepreneurship and a place to mutually learn about solutions to the most pressing social problems. We will be working with other educational institutes, schools, universities, the government and other stakeholders to start and spread this movement."
Awards
Meritorious students of AISSCE 2016 of all DAV Public Schools, DAV Regional Directorate, Odisha Zone-I, were felicitated at DAV Public School, Unit-VIII, Bhubaneswar .
Director-IIT Ratnam V. Rajakumar was the chief guest at the programme. Students who secured more than 95 per cent marks in science, commerce and humanities, toppers in the CBSE Class XII exam 2016, students of DAV Odia Medium Schools who had scored 90 per cent or above, three best schools of the zone, were felicitated at the programme in the presence of regional director, chairman and all principals.
Election
The election for the office bearers of DM School Alumni Association (old student's association of DM School, Bhubaneswar) was held at the school campus, located at Unit IX. The newly-elected office bearers will work for three years for the association. The new office bearers are president Rajib Sekhar Sahoo (1978 batch), vice-president, Sushant Pujari (1979) and secretary Siddharth Mohanty (1974).
Felicitation
Mother's Public School felicitated their student Subham Acharya, who bagged the 7th position in India and 1st in Odisha with rank AIR-7 in JEE (Advanced). The school authorities said 76 of their students came within AIR-50,000 and 92 students came within AIR-1,10,000.
