Bhubaneswar, July 6: Breaking hearts of many Odia girls, Tanmay Mohanty, better known as Babushan, has tied the nuptial knot with his long time girlfriend today at a posh hotel here.

Babushan, the only son of matinee superstar Uttam Mohanty and actress Aparajita Mohanty, has many several hit Odia films to his kitty.

The 23-year-old actor, who debuted with Romeo, the Loverboy in 2009, has acted in around 20 films.

While actor Anubhav Mohanty’s marriage to his long-term girlfriend actor Varsha Priyadarshini, earlier this year was a grand affair with who’s who of the twin cities landing up at the ceremony to bless the couple, the wedding of Babushan, however, has set the rumour mills on fire.

When contacted by The Telegraph, Babushan’s father Uttam Mohanty confirmed the news of the wedding, but refused to part with further information.

Industry sources said that the bride, Trupti, is a city girl and is an alumnus of a city-based management college. Babushan and Trupti had studied together at the DAV Public School, Unit VIII.

“They have been going around for the past five years,” said a friend of Babushan.

At the hotel, apart from family members and close relatives of the two families, very few people from the film industry were present.

Actor Pintu Nanda and Samaresh Routray came and left in a hurry after congratulating the couple.

“If they are not willing to make the news public, I am going to respect their decision. I am like a family member and would not do anything that will hurt their sentiments,” said Nanda, who has acted with Babushan in many films. The hotel staff said that the buffet offered to the guests comprised vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

“The media will be invited to the reception. Kindly, be patient. The picture will be uploaded on a social networking site soon,” said a family member when scribes waiting outside the hotel approached them for visuals of the ceremony.

Babushan, at present, is shooting for Odia film called Lekhu Lekhu Lekhideli opposite Jhilik under Sarthak productions.
