Bhubaneswar, Jan. 2: The urban development authority today announced two new projects that will come up at Ananta Vihar and Kalinga Vihar later this year.
Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will construct a duplex housing project at Ananta Vihar, while the project at Kalinga Nagar will be a commercial one.
"We have announced the two new projects to mark the New Year. However, our engineers are yet to finalise the project plans," said BDA allotment officer Mahendra Panda.
The BDA has also decided to begin the online registration process for houses at phases I and II of Paikarapur. Around 368 flats will be put up for the registration that will begin on January 18.
The Phase-I of the Paikarapur housing project has come up on 2.8 acre, while Phase-II has been built on three acre. In both the projects, there will be houses for people belonging to low-income group, middle-income group and high-income group.
In the two phases of the project, buyers can register themselves for 160 one-BHK (bedroom, hall and kitchen), 112 two-BHK and 96 three-BHK apartments. The houses will be allotted through a lottery.
BDA senior administration officer Madhumita Rath said the prices of the flats had not been fixed yet. "Our costing committee will fix the prices and give a report within 10 days. The cost will be decided based on the committee's recommendation and a fresh circular will be issued," said Rath.
A senior BDA sources said introduction of these existing projects and the announcement of the new projects comes as part of a New Year gift to the denizens of the capital city. One more circular with details of costing will come around mid-January.
BDA also notified about the ongoing online auction process for office and commercial spaces at Nayapalli. The registration of the same will conclud on January 7. Residents of Nayapalli area however say the spaces provided by BDA in Nayapalli for commercial purpose are not up to the mark. "People are not taking interest in buying the same", said Debraj Panigrahi, a local resident.
Earlier, BDA in collaboration with the Housing Board has developed Dumduma housing project Phase-VI, which was built on two plots measuring up to 2 acres and 3 acres. The officials chose the area for development in view of its growing demand with the setting up of national-level institutes like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and a local campus of Doon School.
