Bhubaneswar: Police will target bars that sell nicotine in the hookah following Friday's raids on five joints at Saheed Nagar and Nayapalli.
Deputy commissioner of police, Bhubaneswar, Anup Kumar Sahoo said the police had seized samples from the joints and have sent those to the State Forensic Science Laboratory to ascertain the nicotine content.
"The owners were asked to produce original documents - trade license and fire safety certificates," he said.
Bhubaneswar has around 50 hookah bars. Though these joints claim to sell herbal hookah without nicotine, police raids found nicotine content in them.
It has also been alleged that a number of joints entertain minors. "Police stations concerned have been asked to conduct surprise raids to find out whether they are entertaining minors," said a police officer.
