Cuttack, Dec. 15: Six rock bands from the twin cities showcased their talent at a ‘rock concert’ held at Sarala Bhawan in Cuttack on Monday.
Although a number of rock band competitions have been held in the city before, it was for the first time that well known of bands of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar performed before a gathering of around 500 people.
The six rock bands featuring the popular Ingredientz, Strangerz, Scream, Feedback and the newly formed bands such as Arkanoids and Rude Motives drove the crowd crazy with their electrifying music and compositions.
“It was the most entertaining rock concerts I have ever seen. It is great to see that today’s youngsters can devote time for both studies and music simultaneously,” said an audience member.
“We have been waiting desperately for the concert. It was nice to see all the other bands accepting our invitation and participating in the event which has been a grand success,” said Prateekdev Das, organiser and member of the rock band Ingredientz. “Although our band has performed on a number of occasions, this was a unique experience as we performed before our home crowd,” added Das who is the lead guitarist of Ingredientz that is organising the show in association with Grihasti Udyog.

Arkanoids is the rock band from Stewart School, Cuttack and is creating a special fan base among other rock groups in the city.
“Since long we were in search of such kind of opportunity to perform before a huge gathering. It was the most memorable experience as I could see the crowd waving their hands in air in appreciation,” said Varsha Sen, member of Arkanoids band.
“There has been a change in the taste of music among the youngsters.
“During our time we always listened to classical songs and subsequently Bollywood numbers. But now a lot of people are listening to western songs including rock, jazz and pop,” said Samsundar Singh, a resident.
