
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched the Odisha e-Hospital Management Information System (OeHMIS) pilot project with the technical support of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Noida to provide efficient and hassle-free health care to people.
The pilot project will be implemented in Capital Hospital here and SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and shall be completed in two years.
Health department officials said an estimated Rs 14.16 crore had been allocated under the state project and the project would later be extended to other health institutions.
Naveen expressed his happiness and said the project would facilitate monitoring and review of performance of public facilities that would also be a useful analytical tool for framing polices and programmes of the state.
"This project is another step towards using 3-Ts (Teamwork, Transparency, Technology) in governance. This computerised platform will improve the efficiency and reduce the paperwork through automation of processes," he said.
Health minister Pratap Jena said under the scheme, patients could be registered online and they may view and download their individual electronic health records on their desktop or mobile phones.
