Bhubaneswar, Aug. 20: Cosmetic surgeon and passionate photographer Falguni Ray captured the beauty of nature and presented in his recently concluded exhibition titled Reflections in the capital.

Ray presented an assortment of over a 100 photographs that gave a peek into the unparalleled splendour of nature from Similipal to Switzerland.

The gallery at Rashtriya Lalit Kala Akademi was adorned with pictures of the rocky caverns of Scotland and the sparkling waters of the Andaman. Ray — a former principal of SCB Medical College, Cuttack — caught on camera, spells of gushing streams and high-rise tides as well as the flight of birds and beauty of flowers.

“I took these pictures during my trips to the USA, UK, Scotland, Singapore, Switzerland and many regions within Odisha. From a very young age, photography was my hobby, but when I took it up professionally, I was trained to look into details and aesthetics of my subjects,” said Ray.

“Hence I try to explore a varied range of moods and emotions through the lens,” said the photographer who has won many accolades for his diverse clicks.

Among his 110 works that were exhibited, most of them were clicked in the past three decades.

Ray’s pictures took viewers through the turquoise sea in Andaman and the serene beach in Paradip. Terrace farming in Ooty, tent camps in Bhubaneswar, moments from the life of New Jersey, New York, Singapore were some of the photographs exhibited.

He also showcased a series of pictures on colourful rare birds found across the globe. Ray also displayed a diverse ensemble of photographs of flowers such as orchids, tulips and pansies. There were also a set of images that presented different moods of people — be it a smiling old woman with her years of life showing in her wrinkles or even a snapshot of the Odia author Faturananda in a pensive mood. Young photographers, who visited the exhibition, appreciated Ray’s works.

“The range of subjects covered in his photographs is impressive. Some pictures, especially those with a view through the glass, have been composed wonderfully,” said Deepak, a young shutterbug.
