Bhubaneswar, Sept. 29: A major private sector bank, HDFC, plans to set up another 39 branches in Odisha by the end of the current financial year.

“We will be reaching 100 by the end of the financial year. Eleven branches will be opened by October 12,” said the bank’s managing director, Aditya Puri, who was on a two-day visit to the state.

Puri said: “More than 75 per cent of the branches of the bank will be in rural and semi-urban areas of the state. We will also set up a training centre here.”

“Most of the staff have been recruited from among the local residents. We are also planning to open our branch at Malkangiri and in the Maoist-affected areas as suggested by the chief minister,” he added.
