Bhubaneswar, Oct. 20: The Centre has suggested that the state government explore the possibility of introducing a special school management software that is being used in Gujarat.

The ministry of human resources development, in a letter to the state school and mass education department, has said that installing the "Gujarat model software" would help and support the headmasters to efficiently fulfil their administrative and management responsibilities.

The model was shared with the Centre by the government of Gujarat. Following this, the ministry has written to some states to introduce this software called "School Management Software".

The directive from the Centre says that the software covers all school-level information and enables easy generation of different statistics and reports facilitating faster and efficient decision making. The Gujarat government has agreed to share this software with other states and Union territories.

"The department has sought the suggestions from the officials of Odisha Primary Education Project Authority and Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Adhikar regarding this," said senior official of the state school and mass education department Jagannath Mishra.

The Centre has suggested that the same model be adopted by school administrations in Odisha as it would simplify the administrative tasks expected from headmasters and improve their efficiency

The state has been asked to directly get in touch with the secretary (education) in Gujarat for the software.

It has also asked the department to share the details of similar initiatives in Odisha, if any.

The software used in Gujarat schools can reportedly cover all school-level information including basic details of the school, students, teacher profiles and other related information flow, students enrolled in the school to school leaving as well as all certificates, scholarship sheets, results, salary sheets of teachers, library management, time table and content management system.
