Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday morning recovered the body of a 40-year-old security guard from the premises of a temple at Kanan Vihar in Infocity police limits.

While the cops suspect that Dilip Parikshya, a native of Bhadrak, committed suicide, his wife alleged foul play in the death.

A temple priest first spotted the body and he immediately informed the police. "I reached was taking a round of the temple when I found the man lying unconscious in the temple's backyard. I initially thought that the man was drunk, but when he did not respond, I called the police," said the priest.

A bottle of insecticide was also found from the spot and the police claimed to have found a suicide note from Parikshya as well. "The deceased has not mentioned any name in the suicide note and prima-facie it appears as a case of suicide. We have sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death," said deputy commissioner of police, Bhubaneswar, Anup Kumar Sahoo.

Further investigation by the police revealed that Parikshya worked as a security guard at a call centre at the Infocity campus. "He stayed with his wife in a rented accommodation a few hundred metres from the campus. He had left his house on Tuesday evening, but did not return home," said a police officer.

The cops also discovered that his marital life was in turmoil. "He had married for a second time last year and stayed with his second wife. He was finding it difficult to manage his family with a salary of Rs 7,000, for which the couple used to argue. This might have forced him to take the step," said the cop.

On the other hand, his wife said: "He was under no stress when he left the house. Why he would commit suicide in the temple?"
