Bhubaneswar, May 13: The state government will impart entrepreneurship training to at least 10,000 youths in this fiscal.
This was decided today at a meeting chaired by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) minister Prafulla Samal.
Samal, who took over as the MSME minister recently, said his department would lay emphasis on entrepreneurship development as it helped generate both employment and revenue.
More than 9.65 lakh youths registered with various employment exchanges of the state government were waiting for job by end of 2016. By December 31, more than 1.6 lakh graduates, 14,353 postgraduates, 42,434 trained youths remained jobless, said a departmental source. Maximum job aspirants were intermediate (3,35,395), followed by matriculates (2,31,857).
The state government, therefore, took up the initiative to address the issue. The Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, MSME directorate, district industries centres and the Coir Board will organise the training programme.
Besides, a six-week online learning and development programme is available for the youths free of charge through the Startup Odisha Portal.
It was also decided that a stakeholders' meet would be held shortly with representatives of central and state PSUs, existing ancillary industries and vendors to boost the development of ancillary and downstream industries.
The industries director was directed to convene plant-level advisory committee meeting of all the central PSUs in next four months. General managers of the district industries centres were also asked to ensure linkage of the Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum with the Aadhaar numbers of the respective entrepreneurs.
The department has already conducted six Udyog Samasya Samadhan Sibirs to resolve the problems of MSME entrepreneurs. MSME secretary L.N. Gupta said similar camps would be organised in the remaining districts during the current year.
Gupta also said the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation would be requested to reserve plots for the MSME units at Plastic Park in Paradip and Aluminium Park in Angul. Establishment of the Fly Ash Park in Angul would also be expedited, he added.
It was also decided at the meeting that the district industries centres and apex co-operative societies of Coir and Talgur would be strengthened.
