
Bhubaneswar, May 29: Today was a special day in the life of Prisita Preetam, a Class X student of St Joseph's High School.
She has scored 98 per cent in the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE), the results of which were announced today. "This day is very special for me. I have the results I had expected. My friends and teachers are also very happy," she said.
Along with the ICSE, results of the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations for Class XII were also declared today. Girls have outperformed boys in both the ICSE and the ISC.
Unlike the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), these results were declared smoothly and did not create any controversy.
A total of 135 students appeared for the examination from St Joseph's High School. Of them, 51 students scored 90 per cent and above. In all, 99.46 per cent girls and 97.44 per cent boys cleared the ICSE exam, while 93.56 per cent girls and 92.19 per cent boys passed the ISC examination.
Around 8,454 students from 117 schools from across the state, including seven in Bhubaneswar, had appeared for the board examinations.
Leading English medium schools in Bhubaneswar such as Loyola, Stewart and Venkateswar have secured 100 per cent results.
Rudra Prasad Patra of Stewart School is among the top scorers in the ICSE, having scored 97.4 per cent. "All credit goes to my teachers and parents, who have supported me throughout. Concentration and hard work are required to score good marks," he said.
As many as 183 students from Loyola School, Bhubaneswar, appeared for the examination. Of them, 58 students scored above 90 per cent. In the ISC exam, 32 appeared and all of them passed with flying colours.
Other leading English medium schools of Cuttack, including Cambridge, Stewart School, St Joseph, St Xaviers and SCB Medical Public School, have also recorded good results.
