Bhubaneswar, May 27: A girl working for a private security agency has alleged that her employer had tried to outrage her modesty by spiking her soft drink.

The 23-year-old victim had lodged a complaint with Mahila police on May 25.

The police, however, said today that preliminary investigation showed the case to be false. “We are still continuing with our investigation,” said a police officer.

According to the victim, she had joined a security agency located in Satabdi Nagar area of the city as a data entry operator on May 9.

She alleged that on Tuesday while she was in the office, the peon of the office told her to meet the managing director of the company in his chamber.

“When I went to the room of the managing director, he told me that I would be given a job in the back office. The managing director discussed office matters with me. He seemed to be pleased with me after a formal interview. After the discussion, he offered me a soft drink. I started feeling giddy after drinking it. Taking stock of the situation, he took me to his room. After a while, I became senseless,” said the girl.

She added that when she came to her senses, she found herself lying naked in his rest room.

“I soon dragged a cloth from the bed and wrapped it around me. I saw the managing director was standing beside me. I did not talk to him, and rushed out of the room and towards my house at Bhauma Nagar in Unit-IV area, as I was feeling sick,” she said.

The next day, she lodged a complaint with Mahila police station. The police registered a case under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code against Sahoo.

The police had initially detained the managing director. But they have, however, let him go after questioning. The police also seized some registers from the office of the company. The girl was sent for medical examination last evening.

After preliminary investigation the police said they found the case to be false. “After questioning the office staff, we found that the girl was dismissed from her job on May 23. Despite that, she had gone to the office. When the managing director of the company told her to get out of the office, she lodged a complaint with the police,” said a police officer, adding that they were waiting for the medical reports and the investigation is still continuing.
