Bhubaneswar, Jan. 22: The LPG consumers of the state can now change their gas distributor.
Union petroleum and natural gas minister M. Veerappa Moily today approved launching of a nation-wide LPG connection portability scheme in 480 districts across the country.
Under the scheme, a consumer can now switch to the LPG distributor of his or her choice within a cluster of distributors in the locality. The step aims to satisfy the customers, who are unhappy with their distributor and want to shift to another distributor.
“The facility is already there in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Now, it has been extended to other parts of the state,” said president of the Odisha LPG Dealers’ Association S.B. Mohapatra.
In October last, the oil companies launched LPG connection portability scheme in 24 districts spread over 13 states. Now, the coverage is expanded to over 480 districts and over 8.2 crore LPG consumers across the country.
