Cuttack, Feb. 18: Police today arrested Suvendu Das alias Pinta, 26, another key accused in Dipu and Om murder case.

Pinta is a close associate of gangster siblings - Sushant and Sushil Dhal Samant - who were arrested in connection with the murder case in January.

In Kendrapara, too, the cops arrested six criminals who used to work for the brothers. Those arrested are Sanjeev Mohanty, Rashmi Ranjan Swain, Bijoy Behera, Ramakant Khatua, Gegan Behari Jena and Rajesh Sahoo.

Deputy commissioner of police Sanjeev Arora said Pinta was an active member of the Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangha founded by Sushil.

Pinta, who hails from Bidanasi, was working for the brothers for the past five years.

The police investigation revealed that nearly 10 to 12 people, including the Dhal Samant brothers, had abducted and killed Dipu and Om at a farmhouse in Athgarh and later disposed of their bodies in Jharkhand.

Both Dipu and Om earlier were working as sharpshooters for the gangster siblings and had gone missing in November 2013 from Cuttack.

The police have also got vital leads regarding the involvement of the gangster siblings in two more murder cases, including that of a Malgodown-based trader in 2014.

The family of the deceased, Md. Farooq Tayab, a wholesale pulses trader, today met the deputy commissioner of police Sanjeev Arora here to press for further investigation into the incident. Farooq was shot dead by goons at his shop at Malgodown on November 12, 2014.

Apart from the Malgodown case, the police are also suspect the involvement of the Dhal Samant brothers in the killing of another criminal - Sagar Panda, 47, on June 10, 2012.
