Bhubaneswar, Jan. 5: The 12th foundation day-cum-winter festival celebrations of the Utkal University of Culture concluded today. A series of events marked the two-day festival.
Speaking at the inaugural function, governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, suggested opening of foreign language courses in the university. “The culture and heritage of Orissa is unique. The music and dance of this state gives it a special identification. Students from across the world come here to study our culture. To ensure that our students learn from cultures across the world, courses in foreign language should be introduced in the university,” said the Governor. “This will also help us build relationships with educational institutes abroad,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion Mishra said that the new campus for the varsity will be ready by next year. Many new courses are being planned for the future, he added. MP Prassana Patsani also spoke on the occasion.
An annual exhibition of students of the department of sculpture, painting and printmaking was put on view for public on both the days.
Several cultural events were also held by the students to mark the occasion. Minister Finance Prafulla Ghadei and MLA Bijay Mohanty graced the valedictory function today.
