Bhubaneswar: June 9: A sixty-two year old retired professor, accused of trying to outrage the modesty of a woman, was today sent to jail after his bail plea was rejected by a local court here.
According to police, a woman in her fifties had lodged a complaint yesterday, in the mahila police station against retired professor, Prafulla Kumar Mishra alleging that he had tried to outrage her modesty and slapped her.
“On her complaint we arrested the Mishra and booked him under section 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. He was forwarded to the court in the afternoon,” said a police officer.
According to police, Mishra and the complainant had been staying in the area behind the Naveen Niwas. They were involved in a land related dispute for a long time.
